Layerthorpe's Multi-Masters Academy debut joy
Written by Craigie B    Saturday, 25 September 2010 14:37

Layerthorpe's Multi-Masters Academy celebrated two victories during their junior Thai-boxing team’s first taste of competition.

Ten-year-old Megan Patterson and Cameron Shaw, 12, both emerged triumphant from their fights at the Golden Team Thai-Boxing Show at Leeds.

Sam Watkinson, ten, also drew his contest while Toby Shaw – the baby of the group at eight – was defeated but his thrilling bout was later named fight of the tournament.

Danny Edwards, 12, gave a warrior-like performance as well before losing to his opponent.

Proud coach Gaz Watkinson said: “I was very pleased with them considering the academy has only been going for three months and this was our first competition.”

Watkinson added his thanks to sponsors Wot A Waste, Say Scaffolding, Paul Waddington Flooring, Ajay’s Painting and Decorating, Calvert’s Carpets and MKM Builders.

The Multi-Masters Academy hold mini masters sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5pm to 6pm and on Saturdays from 11.30am to 12.30pm.

Barely four months after first opening, the Layerthorpe-based martial arts Academy has notched a brace of cage-fighting conquests.
